Right people let’s talk sponsorship😳🤷🏼♀️
I receive many messages asking “how can I get sponsored” “what do I need to do to be sponsored”! I have also seen so many people posting on their pages “if anyone would like to sponsor me then just message”
So I’m going to cut it straight and give you some key points that are looked at by companies when it comes to sponsorships, ambassadorships and affiliates.
1. Do I even want to be sponsored??
Obvious one yes, however it is a very valuable question! There is a big commitment with becoming a sponsored rider, it’s is HARD WORK! And you will work for them 😳
2. Why do you want sponsorship?
Ask yourself why you want to be sponsored? Truthfully!! Are you doing it for the money? Free products? Impress your friends? If you answered yes to any of the above then you DO NOT want sponsorship🙄🙄 The correct answers would be because you love a product or brand and really believe in its ethos and you want to spread your knowledge!!
3.Know who your dealing with!
If your looking for sponsorship from a company, you need to target that company! DO NOT send out mass generic emails or post generic messages on your social media asking for sponsorship! This is a drastic mistake 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️You need to research a company, look at their current riders, research the products! And be invested in that brand!
4. If you want to understand a company, you have to think like a company! Companies and brands don’t sponsor people for fun! They sponsor people because their riding careers can advance their brand. If your sponsored for the wrong reasons then it’s only a matter of time before your face plant the concrete and your dropped!
6. NEVER GIVE UP! Nothing good comes easy and nothing worth it comes cheap! If you get knocked down by a company or brand then get up dust yourself off and work harder! Be creative, be genuine and work hard and never give up!! 💁🏼♀️💁🏼♀️
Obtaining sponsorship is very much like going for a job interview; a game!! Winning the game is a matter of research, leverage and your understanding of their operation.
And remember! Being sponsored makes you a professional!! So make sure you act like a profession
